Casey Williams
Positions:
GK, GD.

Long limbed defender Casey Williams is entering her sixth season with the Magic after bursting onto the scene while still at school in 2003. A product of the Magic Development team, Williams, 22, grew up with the wide open spaces of a Matamata dairy farm at her fingertips but replaced that with a flat in Hamilton while studying for a Diploma in Sport and Recreation at WinTech. Williams fulfilled her early promise with a standout 2004 season which led to her inclusion in the Silver Ferns squad the same year. That form reached new heights in 2005 and her inclusion in the Silver Ferns became a formality as she went on to make her senior international debut on the end of season tour to Jamaica. Earlier in 2005, Williams had been a member of the World Youth Cup-winning New Zealand under-21 team. Williams showed her durability in 2006 when she played half of the Commonwealth Games final gold-winning match with a fractured bone in her leg. An in-circle defender of outstanding quality, Williams is a match-winner and was the premier individual performer at last year’s world championships. Poised to become the game’s greatest goalkeeper, Williams will continue to leave her mark in the years ahead.
