Keshia Grant

Positions: WA, C.

Another of the clutch of up-and-comers making their Magic debuts this season is talented midcourter Keshia Grant. An exciting prospect, Grant is a multi-talented athlete with her sporting aspirations not confined just to the netball court. She is the current holder of the New Zealand junior and senior javelin titles. Originally from Taranaki, Grant, 21, moved to Waikato University after finishing secondary school and has just completed a Sport & Leisure degree. She has been a member of the Waikato under-21 team for the past three years and also the Waikato NPC team for the last couple of years. Since making the Magic team, Grant’s post-graduate plans have been put on hold and she is working as a personal trainer for the time being. ``My main goal, first-up, is to get on court,’’ Grant said. ``We’ve got a team with a lot of talented players that includes five Silver Ferns and a former Silver Fern so I know it’s going to be tough. But if I do get on court I want to make the most of the opportunity and continue to maintain that position. I am very excited by it all.’’ Grant will compete in the New Zealand and Australia senior athletics championships prior to the start of the ANZ Championship.
