Paseka Relishing Finals Netball

Young Kia Magic shooter Malia Paseka is relishing the opportunity of playing alongside shooting partner Joanne Harten in the cauldron that is Finals Netball.

Paseka is on a steep learning curve but is more than holding her own, netting 22/26 in the New Zealand Conference Final, earning herself MVP honours in the match.

“I’m proud and proud of my team as well, we just worked through the whole game, minute by minute,” Paseka told SKY Sport’s Netball Zone following the match.

“Jo (Harten) has definitely showed me a lot during training and we’ve connected really well so I’ve learnt to turn and shoot and trust in Jo.”

Paseka, like teammate Casey Kopua, acknowledges the positive vibe within the Kia Magic camp.

“We’ve had our ups and downs but we’ve come together when we’ve most needed it and it’s great to be in the team,” she said.

“Everyone is wanting to win and we’re so happy we have a home game on Sunday, and we know we’ve got to work through it – be patient and see how it goes.”

The Kia Magic host the NSW Swifts in the ANZ Championship Semi-Final at Claudelands Arena in Hamilton from 7.10pm on Sunday 14 June.

Tickets are available through Ticketek with the broadcast live on SKY Sport 1.
