Forsyth to lead Cold Power Magic

Media Release, 19th August 2016

Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty Zone is pleased to announce the appointment of Margaret Forsyth to the role of Cold Power Magic head coach.

Forsyth has signed a two-year contract through until the end of the 2018 season.

Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty Zone Chairman John Wiltshire says the Zone is delighted to welcome Forsyth into the role and she has the credentials and vision to be an outstanding coach.

“Margaret is a highly skilled coach who we believe is absolutely ready for the step up to elite netball.  She has been a contributor to Magic as assistant coach in 2014 and 2015 as well as being head coach of our inaugural Beko Netball League team this year.  Margaret is also assistant coach of the NZA team,” Wiltshire said.

“We undertook a thorough search for the best netball coach available to lead Magic into an exciting new era and to build on the success the team has achieved over many years.”

Forsyth said taking the head coach role is a dream come true.

“I am passionate about Magic and look forward to leading the team into the new ANZ Netball Elite League,” Forsyth said.

“This role is regarded as one of the most sought after in New Zealand netball so I couldn’t be more excited to be taking it on.

“The previous coaching teams have built an impressive legacy and I take the responsibility of continuing and building on that legacy very seriously.  I will give everything to this role and am ready to take on the opportunity.”

A process to complete the makeup of the Magic 2017 coaching team will take place over the next few weeks.
