Heart. Power. Magic.
Mā te māia ka whakakā te angitu.
Courage ignites success.
The Magic 2026 playing dress is more than a uniform - it is a symbol of who we are, where we’ve come from, and the fire we carry forward together.
Inspired by whaiwhai Māori and the concept of the kākahu, or woven cloak, the design represents a mantle of mana, something that protects, empowers and unites the team every time the dress is worn on court.
A DESIGN THAT TELLS OUR STORY
At the heart of the dress are three interconnected triangles, each carrying meaning that reflects the Magic legacy.
Past, Present and Future
The top triangle honours the Magic’s legacy, those who have worn the dress before and laid the foundations. It acknowledges leadership, lineage and the pride of representing the team.
Unity on Court
The centre triangle draws from traditional tukutuku patterns found in meeting houses. Its layered stitching reflects the players at the core, supported by the wider team around them - coaches, staff, whānau and supporters - all working as one.
The Magic Whānau
The final triangle represents the cloak itself, symbolising connection and unity. It recognises that Magic is bigger than the seven players on court - it includes fans in the stands and the future generations who will one day wear the dress.
THE FIRE THAT DRIVES US
Surrounding the design is the poutama pattern, a stairway motif that represents growth, aspiration and strength. It speaks to the relentless drive to improve, to climb higher, and to play with heart and purpose.
Together, these elements reflect the values of the Magic family: courage, unity, power and pride - and the fire that ignites every performance.
