The AVIS Magic are thrilled to announce that Mary-Jane Araroa has been reappointed as Head coach for the 2025 ANZ Premiership season, marking her fourth consecutive year in the role.
Araroa’s leadership has been instrumental in the Magic’s recent success, guiding the team to some impressive performances in the 2024 ANZ Premiership.
Araroa said she was excited to continue her work with the Magic.
"This region holds a special place in my heart, and I’m truly honoured to lead this team for another season," she said. "The growth and resilience our athletes have shown over the past few years have been remarkable, and I’m eager to build on the momentum we’ve created heading into 2025,"she said.
Araroa’s coaching pedigree is well-established, with an impressive resume that includes leading the New Zealand Secondary Schools team, FAST5 assistant coach, and steering Waikato-BOP’s National Netball League team to success. Her deep understanding of the game, coupled with her ability to inspire and develop players, has been a driving force behind the Magic’s resurgence.
Magic General Manager Justine Dixon said the club were delighted to have Mary-Jane’s leadership back at the helm.
"Her strong technical and tactical knowledge, combined with her passion for the game and the region, has been pivotal in our recent successes. Mary-Jane’s ability to connect with the players and get the best out of them has been key to our performances this season, and we’re confident she’s the right person to lead us forward,” she said.
As AVIS Magic look to build on their achievements and aim for even greater heights in 2025, Araroa’s reappointment signals the team’s commitment to sustained excellence under her expert guidance.
