Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty Zone Appoint new CEO

Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty Zone Inc (Netball WBOP) is pleased to confirm the appointment of Rohan West to the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Rohan returns to New Zealand after spending that last 21 years living and working in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States in a variety of sports related roles, the most recent being Performance & Commercial Director at the British Basketball Federation as well as roles at Volleyball England, Ticketmaster UK and the University of Limerick.  Rohan brings with him a wealth of experience in business development, relationship management and funding as well as proven capability in the development and delivery of long term strategy in the sports industry.

Netball WBOP Board Chair, John Wiltshire says the appointment decision was a hard one due to the high calibre of applicants, but Rohan’s past experience in the sports industry and high level commercial experience made him a front runner in considerations.

The role of Netball WBOP CEO includes the administration and delivery of Netball throughout the Zone, from community through to High Performance, as well as management of the Netball WBOP’s franchise team in the ANZ Premiership, the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic.

An active sportsman with interests in rugby, volleyball, cricket, golf and of course netball, Rohan is excited to join the Netball WBOP family and guide the Zone forward with many of the exciting community initiatives currently in place.

Rohan’s first day will be on Monday 11 September and will take over from Netball WBOP Performance Manager Ruth Aitken who has temporarily filled the role of Interim Operating Officer while the appointment was finalised.
